Aruba

5-Night Island Escape — Beaches, Snorkeling & Desert Adventure

Length

5 Nights / 6 Days

Base

Palm Beach

Style

Relaxed + Active

Best For

Couples, Families, Active Travelers

The Experience

Aruba rewards travelers who balance its calm Caribbean beaches with the rugged desert interior. This itinerary is built around that contrast: mornings on the water, one adventurous island day, a national park, a full day at a standout snorkeling beach, and evenings timed around sunset. The pacing is intentional — most days have one anchor experience, leaving enough room to linger over lunch, return to the pool, or simply do nothing for a while.

Signature Experiences

Catamaran + Antilla Shipwreck

A morning sail with three snorkeling stops, including the Antilla wreck, plus light breakfast, lunch and drinks.

California Lighthouse

Climb to panoramic views before exploring Aruba’s cactus-covered northern landscape.

Arikok National Park

Drive through the desert interior toward caves, rugged coastline and the Natural Pool area.

Baby Beach

Calm, clear water and rewarding snorkeling along the protected southern shoreline.

Arashi Beach

A quieter beach day with beautiful water, snorkeling along the edges and casual beachfront food.

Sunset Dining

Build dinner around the view: tables in the sand, open water and golden-hour timing.

Day by Day

Day 1 : Arrive + Settle In

A soft landing in Palm Beach.

Arrival

Transfer from Queen Beatrix International Airport to the Palm Beach resort area. Check in, unpack and resist the temptation to over-schedule the first afternoon.

Where to Base

The Marriott Stellaris area works especially well for travelers who want a quieter resort setting while staying within easy beach walk of Pelican Pier and the neighboring Ritz-Carlton.

Dinner

Keep the first evening convenient. La Vista at the Marriott is an easy resort option — the short ribs are a strong choice. Save the destination dinners for later in the itinerary.

Insider Note :  An ocean-view room is worth considering here — this itinerary intentionally builds in resort time, so the room and balcony become part of the experience.

Day 2 : Catamaran + Caribbean Water

Start with Aruba’s clearest introduction: get out on the water.

Morning — Catamaran Snorkeling

Plan a morning catamaran departing from Pelican Pier. A three-stop format that includes the Antilla shipwreck gives a mix of sailing, snorkeling and social time. Tours may include breakfast pastries, lunch and an open bar — confirm inclusions when booking.

Afternoon — Resort Reset

Return to the resort for an unhurried afternoon. Claim a palapa if available, order lunch on the sand, swim, read or move between the beach and pool.

Evening

Keep dinner deliberately casual. After a morning excursion, a low-key beachfront meal is the right counterpoint.

Insider Note : Pelican Pier is roughly a 10–15 minute walk along the beach from the Marriott/Ritz area, making this an unusually easy excursion day.

Day 3 : Jeep Island Adventure
Lighthouse views, rugged coast and a swim at the southern tip.

Morning — Pick Up a Jeep

Choose a Jeep for the island-adventure day. It is a better fit than a UTV for comfort, road driving and route flexibility, especially if the Natural Pool area is part of the plan.

California Lighthouse

Begin at the California Lighthouse. Climb the roughly 110 steps for panoramic views, then continue into the stark northern landscape of cacti, rock and crashing surf.

Baby Beach

Head south for Baby Beach. The protected water is calm and clear — snorkeling along the left side of the protected area can be particularly rewarding.
Insider Note : See the best northern scenery, then move on. Spending hours on repetitive rough coastline adds fatigue without adding variety.
Day 4 : Hooiberg + Arikok
Trade the beach for Aruba’s desert interior, then return to the water for sunset.

Breakfast — Dutch Pancakes

Start with Dutch pancakes at Willem’s. The large, thin, crepe-like pancakes make breakfast feel distinctly different from a resort buffet.

Hooiberg

Climb Hooiberg’s approximately 600 steps. A brisk round trip takes around 30–40 minutes — allow more time for heat, photos and a comfortable pace.

Sunset Dinner — Atardi

Book Atardi for sunset and request a table close to the water. The setting — feet in the sand, sea in front of you — is the reason to reserve this meal.

Insider Note : Don’t judge this dinner only by the menu. Atardi earns its place because the table itself is one of the itinerary’s signature experiences.
Day 5 : Arashi Beach
The day to do less — in exactly the right place.

Morning to Mid-Afternoon

Head to Arashi Beach near the California Lighthouse and plan to stay. Clear water, soft sand, palapas when available and good snorkeling along the sides make it one of the best all-around beach days in this plan.

Sunset Dinner — Hadicurari

Return toward the Palm Beach resort area and dine at Hadicurari. The sandy waterfront setting is relaxed, sunset-friendly and a natural finish to the beach day.
Insider Note : Give Arashi the full day. It combines the qualities travelers often chase across several stops: beautiful water, snorkeling, shade, casual food and a quieter feel.
Day 6 : Slow Morning + Departure
Leave Aruba without sacrificing the last half-day.

Morning

Spend the remaining hours at the beach and pool. For travelers who want one last activity, add a short tubing or towable-float ride rather than another major excursion.

Departure

Leave enough time for airport formalities and return-car logistics. Set the exact hotel departure time based on the current airline and airport guidance for your flight.
Insider Note : Protect this morning from “one more attraction.” A relaxed departure day is one of the reasons the overall itinerary feels like a vacation rather than a checklist.

Planning Notes

Optional Swaps

For a five-night itinerary, choose one private-island experience rather than both.
“This is an independent sample itinerary and not a confirmed booking or quotation. Restaurant hours, excursion schedules, fees, access rules, road conditions and beach services can change. Confirm all details directly with the relevant provider before travel. Snorkeling and off-road activities depend on weather, sea conditions, individual ability and current access restrictions.”
